History and background
Declared in 1999, this park of about 5,464 hectares has teak plantations from British times and natural forest. Elephants, monkeys, deer and many birds can be seen. The Karnaphuli River and the Kaptai Dam run alongside.
How to get to Kaptai National Park
On the Kaptai road from Rangamati or Chattogram.
Rangamati is about 310 km from Dhaka; the journey takes 7–8 hours.
- 🚌 By bus: Shyamoli, Hanif, S. Alam from Sayedabad/Kalabagan; non-AC ৳800–950, AC ৳1,300–1,800.
- 🚗 By road: For Sajek, chander gari from Khagrachhari town (via Dighinala, with an army escort).
