📜 How Bagerhat got its name
Being near the Sundarbans, tigers once troubled this area, so the name is said to come from 'bagher hat' (tigers' market). It may also come from the 'bagh' (garden) market of Khan Jahan Ali.
How to get to Bagerhat
Bagerhat is about 200 km from Dhaka; the journey takes 4–5 hours.
- 🚌 By bus: Bagerhat/Mongla buses via the Padma Bridge (Sohag, Dola, Meghna), fare ৳600–800.
- 🚗 By road: About 1 hour by bus from Khulna.
