📜 How Barguna got its name

The story goes that boats once had to be hauled upstream with a 'gun' (tow rope). The current here was so strong that a big rope was needed, so 'baro gun' (big rope) became Barguna.

How to get to Barguna

Barguna is about 250 km from Dhaka; the journey takes 6–7 hours.

  • 🚌 By bus: Buses to Barguna via the Padma Bridge (Sakura, Dola), fare ৳600–900.
  • 🚢 By launch: Launch from Sadarghat to Barguna.
