History and details
Khan Jahan Ali came to Bengal from the Delhi Sultanate's court and played an important role in administration and spreading Islam in southern Bengal. He is famous for building roads, ponds, mosques and settlements; many ponds and buildings in the Khulna-Bagerhat-Jashore region bear his name.
After his death in 1459 he was buried in this one-domed mausoleum; the date of his death is inscribed on the tombstone in Arabic and Persian. The Khanjeli Dighi next to the shrine once had freshwater crocodiles called 'Kalapahar' and 'Dhalapahar', surrounded by many folk tales; new crocodiles were released later.
