📜 How Nilphamari got its name

In British times a lot of indigo (nil) was grown here and indigo planters had farms. 'Nil khamar' (indigo farm) over time became Nilphamari.

How to get to Nilphamari

Nilphamari is about 360 km from Dhaka; the journey takes 7–8 hours.

  • 🚆 By train: Nilsagar Express (to Chilahati), fare ৳500–1,400.
