The district takes its name from the Feni River. This riverside area has been known as Feni since old times.

Feni is about 150 km from Dhaka; the journey takes 3–4 hours.

🚌 By bus: Star Line and Chattogram-bound buses from Sayedabad, fare ৳350–600.
🚆 By train: Chattogram-bound trains to Feni station, fare ৳200–500.
