History and details
Mohamaya Lake was made with a rubber dam on a hill stream as part of a Water Development Board irrigation project. The Forest Department later developed the area as Mohamaya Eco Park. It is known as one of the country's largest man-made lakes.
A long, winding lake with hills and forest on both sides. Mohamaya was one of the first places where kayaking caught on in Bangladesh. At the far end of the lake is a small waterfall in the hillside and a cave, which you can reach by kayak or boat.

How to get to Mohamaya Lake
A short walk from Thakurdighi Bazar in Mirsarai.
Chattogram is about 250 km from Dhaka; the journey takes 5–6 hours.
- 🚌 By bus: Green Line, Hanif, Shyamoli, Ena and others from Sayedabad/Arambagh; non-AC ৳650–800, AC ৳1,100–1,800.
- 🚆 By train: Sonar Bangla, Subarna, Mohanagar, Turna Nishitha from Kamalapur; fare about ৳400–1,200.
- ✈️ By air: Biman, US-Bangla, Novoair; one way ৳4,000–7,000, 45 minutes.
