History and details
In British times the Assam Bengal Railway dammed the gap between two hills to make this lake for the Pahartali railway colony's water. It was named Foy's Lake after the railway engineer Foy; at first it was also known as Pahartali Lake.
For a long time it was a protected railway reservoir. In the 2000s the Concord Group leased it from the railway and built an amusement park, the 'Sea World' water park, and a lakeside resort and cottages. With green hills on both sides of the winding lake, a boat ride feels like travelling down a hill river.
Chattogram Zoo is right beside the lake. A family can do the rides, a boat trip and the zoo in one day, and stay at the lakeside resort for the night.
