History and details
Guliakhali is not a typical sandy beach. Along the shore is a field of green grass, with countless small tidal channels winding through it. On one side is keora forest planted by the coastal Forest Department, giving the beach a Sundarbans-like look.
The place became known across the country in the mid-2010s after photos spread on social media. At high tide the grassland goes under water, and at low tide the green field reappears — two different faces at two times of day.
Being close to Sitakunda Bazar, a popular plan is to climb Chandranath Hill or visit the eco park and then watch the sunset at Guliakhali in the afternoon.
Things to do
- Walk and take photos on the grassland at low tide
- Walk beside the keora forest
- Watch the sunset and head back before dark
