History and background
Zamindar Meher Baks Chowdhury began building it in the 19th century but it was left unfinished at his death, standing without domes for many years. Locals called it the 'Jinn's Mosque'. It was restored in the 2010s and domes were added; the old lime-and-surki masonry is worth seeing.
