History and background
A century-old floating market on the canals at Atghar and Kuriana in Nesarabad (Swarupkathi) upazila. Guavas, amra and lemons are sold in the monsoon, and boats themselves all year. Swarupkathi is also known for the country's big plant-nursery and timber markets.
How to get to Atghar-Kuriana Floating Market
By boat or auto from Nesarabad (Swarupkathi).
Pirojpur is about 210 km from Dhaka; the journey takes 5–6 hours.
- 🚌 By bus: Buses to Pirojpur via the Padma Bridge, fare ৳600–800.
- 🚢 By launch: Launch from Sadarghat to Hularhat/Swarupkathi.
Where to stay
The district town has basic and mid-range hotels (roughly ৳800–2,500). Government circuit houses and dak bungalows can be used with permission.
