History and background
This river comes down from the Garo Hills of Meghalaya and flows past Durgapur. In winter it has clear blue water and wide sandbanks. Collecting coal and sand from the river is a big part of local livelihoods.
How to get to Someshwari River
Right next to Durgapur town.
Netrokona is about 160 km from Dhaka; the journey takes 4–5 hours.
- 🚌 By bus: Direct Durgapur/Birishiri buses from Mohakhali (Jinnat, Sarkar), fare ৳400–500; or via Netrokona.
- 🚆 By train: Haor Express/Mohua Commuter from Kamalapur to Netrokona or Mohanganj.
