History and background
In 1946 the Hajong woman Rashimoni Hajong gave her life in the peasant movement against the zamindars' 'tonk' system; she is called 'Hajong Mata' (mother). A memorial was built in her honour at Baheratali.

At Baheratali, Durgapur.
