History and background
This lake of about 20 acres in the centre of Madaripur town is said to have been dug in the 19th century. Paved paths, rows of trees and seating surround it; a favourite afternoon spot for townspeople.
How to get to Shakuni Lake
In the centre of Madaripur town.
Madaripur is about 100 km from Dhaka; the journey takes 2–2.5 hours (via the Padma Bridge).
- 🚌 By bus: Madaripur buses via the Padma Bridge from Gulistan/Jatrabari, fare ৳250–400.
Where to stay
The district town has basic and mid-range hotels (roughly ৳800–2,500). Government circuit houses and dak bungalows can be used with permission.
