History and background
Approach roads and river-training embankments have been built at the Jajira-Shibchar end south of the Padma Bridge. The bridge's long spans can be seen from the riverbank; many hilsa restaurants have sprung up around.

Close by after crossing the Padma Bridge on the expressway from Dhaka.
Madaripur is about 100 km from Dhaka; the journey takes 2–2.5 hours (via the Padma Bridge).
