History and background
The first Eid congregation here is said to have been held in 1828. Legend says 'sowa lakh' (125,000) worshippers once prayed together here, giving the name 'Sholakia'. The country's largest Eid congregation is now held here.
How to get to Sholakia Eidgah
In Kishoreganj town.
Kishorganj is about 145 km from Dhaka; the journey takes 3.5–4 hours.
- 🚌 By bus: Kishoreganj buses from Mohakhali/Sayedabad (Ananya, Jatayat), fare ৳250–350.
- 🚆 By train: Kishoreganj Express and Egarosindhur Provati/Godhuli from Kamalapur, fare ৳150–400.
Where to stay
The district town has basic and mid-range hotels (roughly ৳800–2,500). Government circuit houses and dak bungalows can be used with permission.
