History and background
This tower about 90 ft tall at Mathurapur, Madhukhali, is thought to have been built in the 16th–17th century. There are many theories about who built it. Its twelve-sided walls have fine terracotta decoration.
How to get to Mathurapur Deul
In Madhukhali upazila; by bus/CNG from Faridpur.
Faridpur is about 120 km from Dhaka; the journey takes 2.5–3 hours (via the Padma Bridge).
- 🚌 By bus: Buses to Faridpur via the Padma Bridge from Jatrabari/Gulistan (Golden Line, South Line and others), fare ৳300–500.
- 🚆 By train: Trains from Kamalapur via Bhanga on the Padma Bridge rail link.
Where to stay
The district town has basic and mid-range hotels (roughly ৳800–2,500). Government circuit houses and dak bungalows can be used with permission.
