History and background

Founded by Durgacharan Acharya in the mid-19th century, this temple's Kal Bhairab statue, about 28 ft tall, is one of the largest in the subcontinent. Damaged in the Liberation War, the temple was later rebuilt.

How to get to Kal Bhairab Temple

At Medda in Brahmanbaria town.

Brahmanbaria is about 110 km from Dhaka; the journey takes 2.5–3 hours.

  • 🚌 By bus: Sylhet/Brahmanbaria buses from Sayedabad, fare ৳250–350.
  • 🚆 By train: Chattogram/Sylhet-bound trains from Kamalapur to Brahmanbaria or Akhaura, fare ৳150–350.

Where to stay

The district town has basic and mid-range hotels (roughly ৳800–2,500). Government circuit houses and dak bungalows can be used with permission.
