History and details
Barikka Tila is a green hillock on the bank of the Jadukata River near the Meghalaya border. From the top, the blue water of the Jadukata below, the vast white sandbanks and the Meghalaya hills behind all fit in one frame.
Some Indigenous Garo and Hajong families live on the hillock. The nearby Laurergarh area is said to have been the capital of the ancient Laur kingdom; the shrine of Shah Arefin is also here, where a big Urs is held every year.
