History and background
In 1934 local Congress leader Nasir Uddin Sarkar founded this ashram at Kapashatia, Melandaha, on Mahatma Gandhi's ideals; spinning on the charkha and swadeshi education took place here. It now has a museum on the Liberation War and the ashram's history.
