History and background

Founded in 1938 by the British entrepreneur Robert Russell Carew, this is the country's largest sugar mill and its only legal liquor producer. The factory, farms and old bungalows make up a green area of about 3,500 acres.

How to get to Carew & Co., Darshana

At Darshana in Damurhuda upazila.

Chuadanga is about 250 km from Dhaka; the journey takes 5–6 hours.

  • 🚌 By bus: Chuadanga buses from Gabtoli (Royal, Purbasha, Shyamoli), fare ৳600–750.
  • 🚆 By train: Sundarban/Chitra Express to Chuadanga station.

Where to stay

The district town has basic and mid-range hotels (roughly ৳800–2,500). Government circuit houses and dak bungalows can be used with permission.
