History and details
The district administration built the Gazni Recreation Centre at the foot of the Garo Hills in Jhenaigati upazila, Sherpur, in 1993. With hills, sal forest and a lake it is the most popular picnic spot in greater Mymensingh.
The centre has paddle boats on the lake, a hanging bridge, a 60 ft watch tower, the 'Padma Sinri' steps, an artificial waterfall, dinosaurs and other sculptures. From the watch tower you can see the hills of Meghalaya across the border.
The area is a wild elephant corridor; herds often come down from the hills, so it's not safe to head towards the forest after dark. There are Garo, Hajong and Koch villages around.
