History and details
Munshiganj and Burigoalini in Shyamnagar upazila, Satkhira, are the easiest way into the western Sundarbans. The Indian border rivers Kalindi and Raimangal are very close from here.
The Kalagachhia ecotourism centre has a boardwalk and watch tower through the forest, and the Akashlina Ecotourism Centre at Munshiganj has landscaped riverside paths and boat trips. The area was badly hit by Cyclones Aila (2009) and Amphan (2020); salinity is a big challenge in people's lives here.
It is becoming popular as a cheaper way than a Khulna launch tour to get a taste of the Sundarbans in a day.
