History and background

A railway bridge about 1.8 km long over the Padma, opened in 1915 and named after the then Viceroy, Lord Hardinge. One span was bombed and destroyed in the Liberation War and later repaired. Beside it is the Lalon Shah road bridge, built in 2004.

How to get to Hardinge Bridge

In Bheramara upazila; about 25 km from Kushtia.

Kushtia is about 200 km from Dhaka; the journey takes 5 hours.

  • 🚌 By bus: SB, Shyamoli, Hanif from Gabtoli; non-AC ৳550–700, AC ৳900–1,200.
  • 🚆 By train: Sundarban/Chitra Express from Kamalapur to Poradah or Bheramara.
