History and details
Fatrar Char is a mangrove forest across the mouth of the Andharmanik River west of Kuakata, part of the larger Tengragiri Reserved Forest. As in the Sundarbans there are keora, gewa and sundari trees and breathing roots, so many call it the 'second Sundarbans'.
The trip of about an hour by trawler from Kuakata crosses the meeting of river and sea. In the forest are monkeys, wild boar, many birds and small creeks; in front of the forest is a deserted beach.
