History and details
Satchari is part of the Raghunandan Hills Reserved Forest and was declared a national park in 2005. Seven small streams (hill brooks) flow through the forest — hence the name Satchari.
Hoolock gibbons, Phayre's langurs, capped langurs, wild boar, barking deer and about 200 species of birds can be seen here; it's very popular with birdwatchers. Inside the park is Tiprapara, a Tripura village.
Being beside the main road, it's easy to reach; from the entrance there are several trails and a tall watchtower with a view over the forest canopy.
Things to do
- Walk the trails at dawn for birdwatching
