History and details
In Marma, 'khum' means a waterfall or deep pool. Here the whole river drops over a big step in the Remakri stream to form the waterfall; because of its width and volume, some call it the 'Niagara of Bengal'.
The journey itself is thrilling — you go upstream on the Sangu by engine boat from Thanchi, passing Tindu, Raja Pathor and the area of big rocks. From Remakri Bazar it's about a 2–3 hour walk along the stream bed.
As it's remote, a registered guide is compulsory, and visitor travel on the Thanchi–Remakri route is closed at times for security reasons.
