History and background
Begum Rokeya Sakhawat Hossain, pioneer of women's awakening, was born in 1880 at Pairaband, Mithapukur. The family home of the author of 'Sultana's Dream' and 'Abarodhbasini' has a memorial centre, library and museum.
How to get to Begum Rokeya Memorial Centre
In Mithapukur upazila; about 15 km from Rangpur.
Rangpur is about 300 km from Dhaka; the journey takes 6–7 hours.
