History and details

Beside the Barishal–Banaripara road in Guthia union, Wazirpur, local businessman and philanthropist S. Sarfuddin Ahmed Santu began this mosque complex on his own land in 2003 and finished it in 2006. Its official name is the 'Baitul Aman Jame Masjid-Eidgah Complex'.

The complex has the main mosque, a minaret about 193 ft tall, a huge pond, an Eidgah ground, an orphanage, a rest house and flower gardens. Soil from holy places including Mecca, Medina and Karbala is said to be kept inside the mosque.

At night the whole complex is lit up and the mosque is reflected beautifully in the pond, so many people like to come in the evening.

How to get to Guthia Mosque (Baitul Aman)

At Guthia in Wazirpur; about 20 km from town by bus/CNG.

Barishal is about 160 km from Dhaka; the journey takes 3.5–4 hours (bus) / overnight (launch).

  • 🚢 By launch: Launches such as Sundarban, Parabat, Kirtankhola and Adventure from Sadarghat; deck ৳300–400, cabin ৳1,200–3,500, leaving around 9 pm.
  • 🚌 By bus: Via the Padma Bridge with Sakura, Hanif, Green Line; non-AC ৳550–700, AC ৳1,000–1,400.
  • ✈️ By air: Biman and US-Bangla; one way ৳3,500–5,500.
